The skin on your butt gets dry easily, which can lead to clogged pores. Your bum is also nearly always in contact with clothing, which can lead to irritation. Another cause may be tight clothing that isn't breathable, such as yoga pants or synthetic underwear. In this case, sweat and bacteria is trapped against the skin, causing irritation.
If you hang around in your gym clothes after you work out, you're giving bacteria an excellent environment in which to grow.
This is especially true if you wear skin-tight clothes when you work out. If you hang out in your gym clothes, bacteria and sweat can easily get into your pores and cause problems.
As with pimples on other body parts, butt pimples can also indicate a health concern, such as problems with the digestive system or hormonal imbalances. It could also be the result of a sedentary lifestyle. If you try moisturizing your skin and wearing natural and loose clothing, and it still does not help, you may need to see a doctor. Allergies and other skin afflictions could be to blame for your pimples.
Also, make sure that products you use on your skin do not contain comedogenic pore-clogging ingredients. Often even products marketed "anti-acne" contain ingredients that actually cause acne. So be sure to read the labels and check them with the list of comedogenic ingredients. To get rid of those annoying pimples, you don't need anything super expensive.
There are several ways to start seeing healthier skin. Look for body washes or treatments with benzoyl peroxidesalicylic acid, or alpha hydroxy. Benzoyl peroxide fights bacteria and folliculitis, though it might also dry out your skin. If that happens, use a light moisturizer to balance it out. In my case, it helps not only with occasional butt pimples, but with keeping my face clear as well.
You could also try a scrubbing pad that is pre-treated with salicylic acid. Don't overdo it, however. Scrubbing too hard can actually make acne worse.
If you use an ointment, be sure to apply it right after you shower and let it dry before putting on clothes since some can cause bleaching. Lotions with lactic acid can be helpful to moisturize your skin and treat some of the causes of folliculitis.
Be consistent with use and apply it at least once a day. It will take a couple of weeks to see results. I like that it is fragrance free and non-greasy, and I use it every time after the shower.
Both of these natural oils not only moisturize your skin, but they also have anti-bacterial properties that can help fight one of the causes of folliculitis, trapped bacteria. Sitting on a hot, damp towel for twenty minutes or so before you shower can help open up your pores so you'll be able to scrub away the yuck.
Did you know that garlic, pumpkin, cucumber and potato are great for fighting acne and clear the skin? These products are very effective and are used in a number of acne face mask recipes.
You can definitely apply any of those masks to your problem area. Be sure to wash your butt well when you shower every day.

Use a washcloth or something similar to help exfoliate. Not only will your skin be super clean, but it will be soft as well. Also, wash your body last.

Staying in your gym clothes increases the chance of clogging your pores with nasty stuff. Water naturally moisturizes your body from the inside out and having enough of it allows your body to flush out toxins, helping clear up your skin.

What ultimately helped was grape-seed extract supplements. Best thing I have found is Neutrogena Rapid Clear pads. Use very day fro about months. Worked great. I used to search internet for suggestions.

Oct 11, Dr. Rabach says "butt acne" is super common, but if you want to get technical (and we do), what you're experiencing is likely folliculitis-not the same kind of acne you'd get on your face. Oct 18, They include cystic acne, infected sebaceous cysts, and other skin infections. Causes and risk factors Bacterial infections are the most common cause of boils on the buttocks. Jul 12, As with pimples on other body parts, butt pimples can also indicate a health concern, such as problems with the digestive system or hormonal imbalances. Ok, anyone suffering from acne on buttocks I am young, 24 years of age, I used to get pimples on buttocks. So embarrassing to me that it actually stoped me from having sexual intercourse No pimples, no redness, no inflammation. Fought butt acne folliculitis for years.
Tried all sorts of lotions, cleansers, and potions. My solution is Goldbond's friction defense. It looks like a deoderant stick, not the powder. I apply it daily after a shower. After a month, or so, I cleared up! My guess is that the follicles are no longer irritated. Loose clothing didn't help. If it works for you, this is not a permanent cure. Regular application is necessary to avoid another flare-up.
I used dermalmd blemish serum on a giant-ass pimple that I had guiltily popped because it was too enormous and painful for me to deal with. While popping it was a mistake, using the after serum on it helped it heal within basically two days. It reduced in redness, size, and swelling, and then it just healed fully.
I still have hyperpigmentation there because that's just how my nasty skin works, but honestly I can't think of anything else that would have worked better. The trick for that pimple was to constantly re-apply the serum, like every few hours. It is a tiny bit sticky, but not greasy, and doesn't give me more breakouts.
I'll keep using it for future explosions. I not only get folliculitis on my butt, it also occurs on the back of my upper legs. Its so frustrating and embarrassing, it occurs more often when I begin to exercise; i rush home from the gym to shower and change but no luck.
The only product that has worked for me is "butt acne clearing lotion" by Green Heart Labs. It has Lactic Acid one of the medication the article recommends. I say give it a try, just remember with any skin product it takes time to work - don't expect results over night. Good Luck everyone. I had really bud butt acne and everyday I'd grab a cotton ball and soak it with apple cidar vinegar and then moisturize with coconut oil after a hot steamy shower.
Our family has this issue.
My Mom had them, I have them, some of my children and grandchildren have them. In our family there is one major culprit I don't care what people say Maybe not in others, but for sure in ours. I won't even buy chocolate anymore, I love it, it doesn't love me, nor many others in our family. I was in my 30s before I figured it out! I'm I don't wear synthetic clothing, My grandchildren 2 years, 7 years, etc The pimples go away and stay away for months at a time until indulgence comes along Other sweets do not cause them for us, no does fast food, pizza or dairy.
If this note helps one out of a thousand, that would be great. Try it If not, you can always go back to it, just an experiment to try. Can u just use regular lotion like gold bond to get rid of them or no because I only have one pimple and I don't have lots of money to spend.
I used to have blemishes on my butt, but I started moisturizing my bumm now they are gone. I disagree with monroe I live a low carb lifestyle and yet still get these put pimples. Idriss recommends wiping the area with a gentle chemical exfoliator, like an glycolic or salicylic acid pador an exfoliating lotion, like AmLactinwhich helps keep dead skin cells from clogging your pores.
However, Dr. Rabach suggests switching to cotton underwear, which wicks away moisture better than nylon fabrics do. You should also wear moisture-wicking clothes whenever you work out and take them off as soon as you get home same goes for your swimsuitsand if you can, shower right after the gym.
